Pull choke out, petcock on run (usually it already is), start bike, check tires, brakes, signals. Make sure all zippers are closed on bag, put on jacket, helmet, sunglasses, get on bike, gloves on, push choke in, and away i go.

No rituals.
Depending on which bike I take, there are some checks I perform.

Check that the rear light/brake light is on. I just had a blown one on a brand new Phantom.
With it getting dark so early now it's important to have that puppy shining.

I have to get on the bike, fit my hemet, put the key in the ignition, start the engine, pull on my gloves and back out of the garage then check that I haven't knocked my mirrors..If that is not enough of a ritual I don't need any others..

It's not riding I worry about, its just that fact that nobody knows when they'll be called on to 'meet the Maker.' As far as messaging my wife goes, we do that no matter if I'm on the bike or in the car (and same for her).

Her brother was killed a couple of years ago in a car accident on his way to work. She's been funny about me letting her know what's up and when I'm leaving ever since. She gets utterly pissed when I don't let her know I'm gonna even be 10 minutes late. she knows exactly how long it takes me to get home. So, that's the reason for my 'ritual'- just wanted to make clear that it wasn't out of paranoia.

Strangely, I have put the right glove on first for as long as I remember. If I put the left on first without thinking, I will take it off to put the right on first. Right boot has to go on first too.

Not a clue why.

My left hand digs for my key in my pocket. So yeah, my right gloves goes on first as well.
