I went ahead and bought an Avon Venom rear tire for the Shadow. I am going to see how many more miles I can get out of the Dunlop D404 on the front. It may get another 2,000 miles. My rear tire had a commuting strip so flat there was only about 1.5 inch strip of tread on the side of the tire for leaning. It was becoming scary to get over on that tread because it would wobble in the turns. There was no tread on the commuter strip at all. So it was very slippery in the rain and on very smoothly worn pavement. I felt so much better riding it home from the bike shop. It was much more comforting being able to lean over and cross the cracks in the concrete on the interstate without a wobble.

I also had 2 nails in my rear tire. I went out this morning to ride to work and my rear tire was flat and was hissing air back out quickly. Being as worn as they were and having nails in it I may as well get the new tire.

Venoms are nice tires. I had them on my Sabre and put around 10k on them before I sold the bike and they were still looking very good. They are a wee bit more sticky than the Metz.

I don't know how long the Dunlap D404 last because it was on the bike when I bought it. I only put 4,000 miles on it myself. It did look nearly new when I got it but it wore quickly.

Have a set of Venoms on the Shadow. They have about 4,000 miles on them. Can't tell they have worn any from the day I put them on.
If they are anything like the Cobras I run on the VTX 1800 I am really gonna like them. They have given great service and milage on the 2 set I have had. The factory Bridgestones on the Shadow lasted ( stretched out the life too long ) just under 9,000 miles
