Default ISO Grip Install picture, opinions please

Had these Kuryakyn ISO grips installed at a bike shop, (some cable adjustment required). As you can see, not symmetrical. Mentioned this to them, they said they're installed off-alignment so they match up during throttle??? (which they don't). Is this an issue or am I being too picky?

I have the iso-grips on my machine and I don't like them, but I'm also too lazy to change them out. I just got used to them being weird like they are... You are being picky, but you're supposed to be picky, it's your ride.

the kury iso grips are alright, it's just that everyone and their mother, sister, brother and grandma have them on their ride. i'm gonna change sometime just to be different.

Your bike, you paid for the install, you should be happy. That being said, I have ISO's and am going to be removing them this winter.... They were kinda cool at first but no I find them irritating and that I cant seem to find a comfortable position for my thumb. Something smooth for me please.

They were installed by someone who doesn't have a clue or just to dam_ lazy to do it right.

Their excuse makes no sense when you think about it. You set the throttle grip to where you need it at highway speeds ( because to me that is where the majority of throttle time is • for me anyway ) or for the best fit for your hand and riding and then you set the left grip to match if the symmetrical placement of both grips the same is comfortable for you.

You do this in a dry run fitting before applying the glue and having them set up so fast you can't move them.

Bottom line to me is they screwed up. If there was a question in their mind where they should be or how they should be set for the customers comfort and preference an inquiry phone call should have been made and an approval fitting should have taken place.

Welcome to the world of having a dealer do something for you and charge you for messing it up or just making an half assed or uninformed install or mod.

As for me I like symmetry if I can get it ... I just like things to line up, but that's me.... Guess that is why I installed all three of my sets. The first one was a little stressful, I had never done anything like that before, but it saved me $75.00 in install charges and got it done like I wanted. Then saved another $150.00 by installing the Kury's on my other two bikes.

It is your bike. My ISO grips were on my bike, when I got it. They are symmetrical on my bike. I'm assuming that the throttle grip goes on one way, restricted by closed throttle position (no adjustment). The left side should have been adjustable, to match the throttle. I don't know, personally, if you can adjust them after they have been installed. I thought they were glued in place.

I had those on my M50 years ago; liked them - very comfortable. Eh, well I too have a rather symmetrical mindset so I'd say fix 'em! Every bike I've ever seen with those has them lined up off throttle. Throttle position is a variable, so what the h3ll are they trying to tell you??? I have custom tooled leather grips with words on them. Do you think I installed the throttle side so the words line up on throttle? Uh, no. It's YOUR bike - don't let them give you some other answer other than what YOU want to hear - you paid for it, right?!

I do all my own work and I can tell you grips are NOT that difficult to remove, nor install. Here's a nice video of how to install the Kury's if you want to fix them yourself ...

Hell, if it were mine i would even PAY to have them corrected (err...made symetrical)...lol It would drive me nuts, untill i got used to it then I woldnt notice...lol

Doesn't look right to me. I've never seen a set of ISO grips that weren't lined up. I'd go back to the dealer who installed and try to get them to line it up with throttle off. Since you've already picked up the bike and taken it home, they might want to charge you to do it over.
