As a female rider, you get to either deal with horrible painful tangles by letting it fly, be able to "get away with" a "super cute" short hair style or look like a cancer patient by covering the top with a bandana and braiding or pinning up the rest of the length.
I for one, do not like myself in short hair, so long it is and the third option most of the time.

CD: Your hair advice solves nothing man! My hair is a bit past shoulder length and, after a day of riding it is matted to hell from twisting in the wind - a brush just tears it up. Ha, seriously..it's bloody annoying and, I have no intent to cut my hair. I've seen some guys with really long hair just put it into one braid but, that's not so easy to do alone. I will agree with the beard aspect, let it fly! Useful in the wind, catches bugs on the hot days and, keeps snot out of the mouth on those slightly chilly days of riding up country.
