Default 600 VLX Tire reccomendations

Planning on replacing tires and tubes on my 2001 VLX, Looking for reccomendations on brand and expected costs. Not looking for cheap looking for best value for the dollar mileage traction and quality.

I bought some Metzeler me880s for my machine. The tires were pricey (120 and 180 I think? Maybe more), but the tread-life(so far) and the control is fantastic. I don't regret the decision.

Get a good round one. I have to be facetious, if I recommend what I run, peeps will cry foul.

For the dollar I'd say the Dunlop's are about the best. I have to replace my rear tire soon and it's been a really great wearing tire that has about 7,000 on it but the years are getting it.

I've been using Kenda Cruisers a couple sets now and find they work good and cost me less than $200 a set.

+1 on the Kendra's. I went with them last time and love them. Great value for your money. Great wet/dry traction and unlike the dunlops they don't chase road cracks or tar snakes.

Got more than 5K on my VT700's Kenda Kruz... they are fantastic in the rain, even better on hot asphalt, and based on current wear, I'll be surprised if I don't see at least 12K out of that set of tires! I've also put a set on my Sabre, but only have about 1K on those... ride and "feel" is about the same as the VT700.

Ordered them from Chaparral (free shipping) for roughly $150 for the pair, including new, chromed valve-stems (non-spoke rims on both bikes). Your VLX should have spoke rims, so once you add in tubes and rim-straps, you'll be good to go on free shipping from most any online retailer and still likely be under $200.

I have Kenda Challengers on my VT500. They're a little sportier then the Cruz in profile but they really gave the old girl a whole new attitude in the twisties.
