I bought my 06 Honda Shadow last Feb. Been riding it ever since and have added 6,000 miles to the odometer. Recently It felt a little slick going around corners. Wondering if I need a new back tire. The tires were new when I bought the bike. But I've only been riding not quite a year and don't really know what Im doing.

Here are a couple pictures on what to look for:
![]() ![]() Lots of opinions on tires out there, but I personally like the Metzeler ME 880 and will be replacing my stock tires (Dunlops) when the time comes.

Having only the stock type tires on my bike (D404/K555 WWW), and them being 9 years old, I chose to put what I could afford. I got a "buddy deal" on new D404s, front and rear. I wanted the Metzeler 880s, too. Couldn't justify the cost, right now. Mountain of bills, two kids, and twins on the way. I'll take what I got. It rides thousands of times better than what was on the hoops before.
Personally, I think you got your money's worth from your tires. I know a few people that are lucky to get 2,000 miles from their tread. Sent from my iPhone using Motorcycle.com Free App

I have the Metzler ME 880s and had 32K on the front tire when I changed it. I have over 19K on the rear and it still has plenty of tread. Yes they cost a little more, but you will be happy with how they handle as well as how they wear.

Be carefull when using cleaning products on the tires, don't use armorall, tire shine , or any of the products that contain wax...I use Spray Nine" on mine - it gets them clean and black without any contaminants.
