I'm the VP of a local MC. We aren't a 1% club, nor do we act like one. It's very much like -AJ said, just a group of guys that chill and ride. We've got a shop out at the airport where we work on our bikes. The shop also serves as a club house. We don't have dues, or anything like that. However, if you want to be in the actual club, the only thing you have to buy is the back patches. If anyone wants to ride with us, who isn't in the MC, they are more than welcome. My advice for the people who want to join an MC is to start hanging out with them. See if that specific MC is made up of people you like hanging out with. The topic of you joining will eventually come up.

I am part of a Assc/club.(clubs are the legit term for gang normally). I am also a PGR rider. As far as the PGR goes, it's a humbling request and an honor to lay a soldier/sailor/airman/marine to his final rest. I wish i could make more rides.
We are an international assc., not 1%(although we have some ex 1% in the club). We have dues, minimum CC requirements, colors, etc... We run a few fundraisers, as well as run security for different events. One requirement is we ride. You MUST own a bike to join. I joined for the brotherhood and networking. It's good to know I can be anywhere in the world, and have a "brother" a phone call away, in case a situation arises. Since the inception of SOA, I have seen a rise in back patches. Most are harmless, and more power to them. SOME tread dangerously close to 1% territory, and that will get you hurt/killed. Last edited by barncat; 11-21-2012 at 08:24 AM. |

you should contact the local prg, maybe join,,meet some fellow riders, you don't have to be on a mission to ride.

I ride with a MM, A motorcycle ministry the Carolina Faith Riders we have chapters all over SC and NC, We ride to spread the Gospel. I am not sure where you are, you should add a location to your avatar. Look up CMA, Christian motorcycle Association, they are Nationwide I know. They are a great group that does a lot to help those in need and are a good group to be part of, National events all over.
Check with the local bike shops ask people about the way the group acts before you try to get in, you dont ant to get into something you cannot/do not want to handle! Good luck, Coop

MC clubs come in all shapes and sizes as well as mentalities , creeds and oaths.. my only caveat to them is make sure you are not putting a patch on your back that could be mistaken for the colors of another club, especially a 1%r club.. it rarely goes well

Not a member of any group right now, but planning on joining the Sons of Confederate Veterans Mechanized Cavalry next year. They are a patch group, but I don't think anyone would mistake their patch for a 1% group.
![]() Even with the top and bottom rockers denoting Company affiliation and State, I have never heard of issues with them. |

I'll second Dave's comment about being careful displaying any patches. I have a friend the belongs to a Firefighters MC. He was walking into a local clothing retailers store and almost did not make it out. He was told he can't go into the store with his vest on. It clearly had the usual fire hydrant, hose and helmet on it, nothing close to the local 1% patches. His vest also has some other small patches for victoms of 9/11 , toys for tots and the likes. Clearly a good guys vest. When he didn't comply the one guy that was there phoned some friends. When he went to leave, lets just say it was not easy....
