It always strikes me funny, that a guy will buy a vehicle that is all about being solo, and then go out and look for other people to ride with.

If you really want to ride around with other people....buy a bus.

much truth here.. I rarely join in group rides apart from the annual toy run, even another biker alongside is usually one too many.. there is a reason I don't do clubs

Personnally as former patch holder and officer of an MC and member of RGs and RCs. I really don't see the difference between them for the most Part. Yeah the MC is more likely to have dues and attract the 1%.. But there are plenty of rider group and t-shirt clubs out there, that also collect dues. 1% types are in all groups, or clubs. Also just because you where the patch of a 1% club, does not make you a 1%er. You have to EARN that honor.

We're opening up a whole new discussion here. It's either gonna be a very long thread or a new one.

Or do we want to go down this road again . . .

When I ride in a group, it's with the Southern Cruisers Riding Club. No dues, nothing you HAVE to do. We get together once a week and do a 70 to 150 mile ride. Usually, stop somewhere along the route to get a drink, eat, or just walk around some.

Otherwise, I'm always solo.

???

That is an...odd...choice of word, IMO. What is the honor in being a 1%er?

Not trying to start a flame war or hijack a thread, just curious.

From the 1% point of view, it's an honor, and a hard-earned honor. Can we let it go at that?

That's why some will rip your patch right off your back.

Yeah, I know you have a legal "right" to wear whatever you want to wear. Some folks disagree, and they *will* correct you.

Get to know and understand the culture.

Friend
CrazyDave

For Squeaky

I had a friend
a brother of mine
I had a friend
we were together
all the time
I had a friend
our bond thicker
than blood or skin
I had a friend
but something changed
within
Now my friend
is a stranger in
my eyes
the loss I cannot
conceal
the hurt
I cannot disguise
A different road
for each of us
choices we all
must choose
A different road
something to gain
something to lose

I started a local riding group 3 years ago by posting on Craigslist for interested riders. We meet every Wednesday evening. We don't care what you ride or how old you are. We have a interesting mix of riders and bikes that show up every week.
If you want a riding group, start your own.
