This is what I understand..

All men are scum, some of us try to overcome that fact though by confronting our scumness and rising above it... and
All women are dangerous and should be feared..nuff said about that

I meant no disrespect. I thought I clarified when I said it was because most women don't take an interest in mechanics. If I would have said that's impressive it wouldn't have been truthful. Any decent mechanic should know how to grind and lap valves, ect. and most mechanics are men. I was trying to give you a compliment. This whole thread is based on gender so...

...and that may have something to do with my knowledge in that area

Sorry for giving you a hard time, but it sometimes gets on my nerves that in this day and age, I still face discrimination.

I'm still learning to let it go. Besides, those who "know" me "get" me.

When I tell people that I got a bike, those who don't know me think I have a little pink Vespa with a matching helmet, and are surprised to see my bike. They usually comment on how big it is.

Those who know me, don't bat an eye. It's something they would expect of me. And yeah I have an orange helmet to go with my orange bike, because I'm still a "girl" at heart.

Don't sweat it. I wasn't being sexist. I think it's great that you can work on your bike. If I owned a shop I would hire a woman without batting an eye if she new what she was doing.

Wow, I missed alot these past few days. I grew up with a mechanic father and that is how I spent time with him. I agree that knowing what you can and cannot do is key. Not being afraid to try is a great feeling. I'm looking forward to the point where I can afford a mechanic to do things for me, but until then.... It's me or not at all.

I do oil changes and such to my bike and conversion van both. I don't know it all but am proud of what I do know which is that she is wayyyy out on alot of scheduled maintenance things that haven't gotten done.

Another note I like to cook, nothing like coming home from work and seeing that my wife (stay at home mom) has had a rough day and cooking dinner so she can relax for a bit. Hell my 4 year old son cooks with me and is in the garage with working on the vehicles. Sex doesn't matter when it comes to abilities in the garage or kitchen..
