Some people like to socialize, some people just like to zen out on the road.

As far as safety goes, I've never felt unsafe riding in groups or in poker runs. You slow down to your speed, and if the group pulls away then let it. Mostly my experience is that the group is slow, however. As in 5mph below the speed limit the whole way slow.

I ride groups when convenient, and just me and the Mrs. usually.

Lone wolf. I don't like riding in big groups and I never have a ride planned. I just get on the bike and go. I'm always looking for a great pic to take.

Prefer to ride alone, I do go to the ECR and we do a couple of group rides which I enjoy. There is just something perfect about being on a byway alone and about half lost.

I like riding with a small group. Just more enjoyable out on the road with some good friends.

Mostly I ride alone, when I hop on the bike generally don't have a destination in mind , just want to ride.

I do a fair bit of long distance riding on my own, but always enjoy it if I meet someone and we ride a few hours together.

Usually alone up to 4 bikes here. Not being antisocial, but I think it's a fair bit safer for a couple of reasons.

Most times I'm alone, sometimes with the OL on the back sometimes not , sometimes with a groug of friends and occasionally even with strangers. Another bike happens to be going the same direction as me and wants to, join me, fine, safety in numbers and all that. The only real restriction to riding, for me, is the occasional bad weather day. Yeah sometimes the BIG charity/group ride can be annoying, but I still do them once in a while. there is afterall no law that says you have to stay with the group. Tell me you don't enjoy laughing at the stupid things people do on those rides. I prefer small groups, <10 bikes, made up of riders I know. Group ride don't bother me much, mainly because I ride point (not lead), most of the time. People I ride with would rather have to chase me than, for me to be constantly be PUSHING the pack.
