This town is full of "those guys" three times a year....and many have bikes. The point is this event was about the kids. not the riders and how they braved the cold as "heroes". Self glorification in charity is not charity,
The kids got to enjoy the company of a "bad ass biker" and had their picture taken with him. They were made to feel good. Does it really matter if the guy drove considering the event? Maybe the guy doesn't have a bike. Maybe he had one and got in a bad wreck and never left the life but left the bike. Who is to judge? At the end of the day what harm was done to hurt the central cause or the kids? I see bruised egos among those who rode, not any harm to the kids or event.

For a toy run I thinks it's good to show and donate....ride, drive, fly, crawl, what ever. The picture part....meh, not the coolest thing to do but I wouldn't do much more than shake my head and chuckle a bit.

Maybe the guy just dresses like that all the time. Hard to understand why this would put anyone out. Yeah, I wonder why some people do what they do and I’m sure others have thought the same of me. Walk a mile in someone else’s shoes as they say…….

And if you’re not one, the same thing the 1% think of you or me? (and don’t think they don’t ride some expensive HDs themselves) Quote:
Why worry about what someone else rides or how often. Last time I checked, it was still a free country. Ride what you want, when you want and if you can afford an expensive garage queen, and you worked hard for it, good for you. It makes for a good deal down the road when they decide to sell… Last edited by 1rusty1; 11-27-2012 at 12:46 AM. Reason: sp |

I'm too polite to laugh at them, but I know people who will. Thanks gat. Edit: It's "do-rag," not "due rag." And frankly, "Friendly," I don't understand what got you so bent out of shape; the guy looked kind of silly, but personally I don't see a reason for any kind of confrontation over it. "Pretend" behavior in the biker world and culture is pathetic and sometimes sad or dangerous, depending on the situation, but I don't get what got your panties in a bunch, especially since you're supposed to be some sort of cop. So long as he's not sitting on my bike, my attitude is pretty much "whatever." But I'm not responsible for what others may do. It must have been really cold that day, huh?

I've been on 2 wheels for 6 years less than I've been on 2 feet. I grew up on mini bikes and motocross and grew into jap standards, supersports and cruisers. I'm born and bred biker and I'll support anyone who gets into the sport at any age, but if you don't love it and don't live it, don't friggin dress up on the weekends and pretend. |

And yet you apply the same logic to someone who rides on the weekends. What’s your criteria for “if you don't love it and don't live it” riding? Therein lies the problem, we each have our own opinions. If someone doesn’t fit in our “box” of what a rider is, they are posers? Not that it’s any of our business but I think absolutes without taking the time to really understand someone’s choice in brand or how/when they ride is a bit immature but to each his own I guess. Roll how ya wanna roll.. |
