Default "Poser" venting

Yesterday I rode in a " Toys for TOTS " toy ride ON MY BIKE!! it was 28 degrees F. when we started and never got above 34 degrees...

15 bikes showd up & rode (we escorted Old St. Nick) Once we got to the toy drop off area there was over 300 people there singing and helping and food and bands ect ect ...

heres where my Venting starts,,,,lol while standing there people were shaking our hands thanking us for coming on the bikes in this COLD weather ( the Kids love the bikes and like to pose on them and have thier pictures taken with Santa and the "biker guys & gals) I then notice this "POSER" show up to this event in his 2008 FORD CROWN VIC. he gets out of his car wearing.....full leathers Chaps Jacket vest and Due Rag???? WTF!? Now I know this event is about the kids NOT ME ,,but when this POSER walked over and started hanging out with the bikes and kids having his pics taken ,,I politely asked him where HIS bike was?? He said it was too cold to ride the bike and came in his car,,,so I told him " hey pal ya didn't pay your dues (ride in the cold like the rest of us) so step away from MY BIKE and have your picture taken next to your car..." I made sure NOT to make a big deal about this ,because it's about the kids not my ego...
I feel that the 15 guys & gals that roughed the cold were the REAL bikers that day,, not him.. was I wrong?? have you ever seen a Poser? or a guy show up to a poker run in his car wearing full leathers & due rag?? My wife says " let it go" LOL and she's right cause today I can now laugh about it..

Probably couldn't get the Harley started again. ... ... and for those who think I'm serious.

On the other hand, you sure he wasn't the "entertainment"?

Props to you for doing the chilled ride for the sake of the kids.

Want a pic of my bike, Go ahead... Want a bike of yourself with a bike, fine, NOT MINE.

Probably just trying to get a Butch pic, to show the crowd, at his favorite Bars. You know, the ones where there are no bikes, in the lot, but lots of people wearing leather goods.

I half agree with you but it is all about the kids like you said yourself!! and if he brought a few toys or donation of some kind its all good. I think i'd squint a bit this time. The ride you did shows class, love and good will on your groups part. My hat's off to you!!! Keep it up.

I guess it's like dressing up as a clown, going to the Circus, and jumping in the show to participate.

The kids don't notice these things, though, just us adults.

Just one question: Did santa actually drive a sleigh with 8 reindeer or was he also a poser?

Oh I dunno. I can forgive a leather jacket and a do rag; but full leathers to show up in a cage? Yeah, poser. Kind of a grey area though if you're going to let hardship be the yardstick. I ride all winter, so when spring rolls around and all of the shiny bikes come out of the garages, they're all posers to me. I suppose if the guy just wanted to show that bikers were there for the kids, there isn't anything wrong with wearing gear for that effect. You could even maybe squint & see it as solidarity for the cause. (But full leathers? Really?)

Personally I think that anyone who rides, regardless of how often or weather conditions, etc. passes for non-poser. It does depend on the definition of "poser", but it does take guts to get on two wheels and tough the real world hazards out there.

Now, if the dude in question that showed up actually owns a bike, then it's not really posing in my opinion. Posing for pictures? Yeah. But I can see how it might have looked funny showing up in a car, but in the end he was there for a cause, and a good one. Do you know if he actually brought something for the kids? I'd imagine he paid an entrance fee, which does go to the cause. I guess really, anyone not having witnessed first hand exactly what you encountered would have had to have been there.

Normally I think folks make too much out of crap like this, but I am giving you kudos for this one. Come to the event in a car because it's too cold, fine I can understand that.. come there and then PRETEND by hanging round others bikes.. take a freakin walk POSER!
