yep, and it gives a scary feeling of the mentality that exists in the real world...damn near as scary as politics.

That said, Squid you make it sound as if, say you were a cager and accidentally cut off a biker resulting in him flipping you off, that you wouldn't stand for it. At least that's how I read the above. Please clarify - what would you do?

That's pretty much the case Aced It. Doesn't matter if it's person on a bike, in a car, truck etc. I've been lucky I guess where I've only been flipped off two or three times, once by a guy on a bike. In each instance it ended in a confrontation. What surprised me, and still does to this day, is the chickensh** "hey, I didn't mean nothing" from the perpetuators. If you're going to flip someone off, at least be willing to stand up to the action.
We read here so much sanctimonious BS at times. Folks act like they’re all butt-hurt over people operating cars and trucks while talking on phones, texting or whatever. I'm against it myself, but I also notice damn near three out of four vehicles on the road with the driver having a phone in his/her hand. I find it hard to believe the fourth person is a member of this site. It's comforting to know we're surrounded on this site by so many perfect drivers. Drivers who have never made a mistake while operating their vehicles. I guess it's the reason they feel all vehicles are personally out to hurt them so they feel justified to respond in kind. I'll admit I've talked on the phone while driving; I've changed lanes without signaling and have accidentally cut people off or swerved into their lanes. It's part of driving. When it happens I make a quick "my bad" wave to apologize. If someone takes it personally, I'm sorry. They want to make a provoking gesture or escalate the situation; more often than not I'll be more than happy to accommodate them.

More to the point of my question is that if the incident was your fault (ie: you cut the biker off, etc) and he flipped you off, would you pursue him to the point of confrontation and endangering his life on the bike? Sorry dude, I really don't mean to cut into you or call you out; I'm just curious as this relates to your comment, "I won't stand for it, no matter who it's coming from or why." You'd have to expect that in any split second fault of ones own, there may be a split second reaction from the victim. Me personally, I would still offer the apologetic gesture and hope that the victim can forgive and move on.

in short...YES!!!

If I was the driver of the car in the original post and I accidentally cut the OP off and he pulled up alongside me to flip me off, and especially if he acted like he was going to kick my vehicle to show his dispeasure, odds are better than even I'd of swung the wheel and put his butt into the guardrail. Not bragging, not saying it's the right thing to do... just saying. I'd be willing to bet, no, I know for a fact, I'm not the only one out in the world like that either.
BOTH parties need to expect a split second reaction.

^you might need to reconsider why you get behind the wheel or ride in the first place.

flipping someone off is a symbol to say 'f you'
saying the words 'f you' are slightly different
someone bending you over and actually 'f-ing you' is a completely different story

if you would take a symbol to such extremes that you would endanger yours and others lives then there might be more things for you to deal with before worrying about driving or riding.

there are very few ways to get the point across to someone else that they are in the wrong. unless you are going to carry 'rules of the road' and hand them out to all the morons who don't follow the rules of the road properly...

I have to ask accommodate them how exactly ?
Physically assault them ?
Because IMHO that is ridiculous that someone would risk jail , fines, and a criminal record because someone gave a hand gesture or said two one syllable words to them .

Personally if someone says Eff you to me, or flips me off, I blow them a kiss

A couple of months ago, I got cut off by a car that was merging into my lane from a parallel lane (freeway transition).
I anticipated it by staying clear of his left rear bumper, but he changed lanes into my lane with NO turn signal at all.

It was a CHP.

So I opened up on him... with my Stebel.

I saw him do the old "palms up, oops...I didn't see you" through his rear window.
He did jump a bit from the horn, lol.
Had he bothered to make the slightest effort, he would have seen me but he never looked.
(he didn't take off fast like he was on a call, either)

On a side note, I do run a light bar plus modulator on the headlight.

Some drivers just don't bother looking when merging.
