Default ATTN: Gadget Freaks!!!

Here's something I found in the Hammacher-Schlemmer catalog. I'm sure this could be easily modified for a motorcycle.

What do you think? Woud this be a nice feature on a motorcycle, or a distraction from safe driving?

I'm always up for a cool gadget; but I already have two gadgets on my bike that perform the exact same function. They're called mirrors.

Yeah I'm not really seeing the advantage of this on anything but maybe a Goldwing where the trunk, bags and what not make it tough to get a look at your rear tire position. Neat idea but as gadgets go it seems like sort of a waste of electric draw and handlebar space that might be better served for GPS, comms, and flashy stuff.

The only advantage I could see with a rear view camera on a motorcycle is if it records. Other than that >>>>> mirrors.

The only times I care enough about who's behind me are when I'm stopping/stopped or when I see red and blue lights reflecting off roadside signs.

I don't know if I'd want to be my own witness if a cage comes up from behind and hits me. It would ruin my day moments before my day was ruined.

Now that's funny and gruesome in just one paragraph

Chris.

yeah, i think this would freak me out more than it would help me.

or i'd be too per-occupied with the view that i'd miss the cage in front slamming on the brakes!

i'm not a fan of the screen-generation

At night, having that light shining toward me would detract from my ability to see small objects in the road ahead.
