So I'm working on starting a business in Central Asia and am thinking about doing motorcycle rentals and tours (if you want to contribute ideas please do it in the thread entitled "Need feedback on a motorcycle business idea." As per a suggestion I'm posting a poll. I need to know how much you'd be willing to spend on a 2 week adventure vacation to a unique, exotic, maybe once in a lifetime location. Please respond even if you wouldn't rent motorcycles, but might consider an adventure vacation of some kind.
Edit: Now that I think about it, how much would you spend on a big 2 week vacation, adventure or not, per person. Even if that vacation were the Space Center and Disneyland.

At risk of offending someone, I don't know that polling Honda owners will necessarily give you the best representation of your target markets (people who vacation in exotic places like Asia). In addition to reliability, I bought a Honda because I like saving money and I imagine a lot of others here are the same. For me, vacation is driving up to the woods or taking the wife on a roadtrip to Disneyland.

Definitely no offense taken. I'm starting here because, in my mind at least, I prefer to start with the more "hostile" audience and see if I can convince them. Part of my reason for starting a business is to help the local economy here where people often don't make more than $1/hour. If I can convince a relatively uninterested segment of the motorcycle world to give it a try, then I'm opening a new source of income for this country.
Oh, and for the record maybe I shouldn't just ask for how much you would spend on an adventure vacation, how much would you spend period...even on that Disneyland vacation?

I voted $3,000 but that would be my total budget including air fare, food, lodging etc.
I've always been of the mindset that I'd rather spend my money on things that I can stretch use out of (for instance, an expensive vacation lasts a week or two where a part, tool, device upgrade or investment in my house can last for years or more) but I'm finding as I get older I find more value in experiences than I did 10 years ago. Most my vacations involve camping and usually cost around $500-1000. I do travel overseas but those trips are usually spaced several years apart, so I do tend to be cheap in regards to vacationing (much to my wife's chagrin). Considering that a plane ticket to Asia is $1500-$2000, expect to pay at least $50 a day on food, lodging, some form of transportation ... I can't see how it could be anything less that $5000 ... and probably more likely in the $5000-$6500 range for 1 person?
I spend about $4000-5000 for family vacations per year, on a good year, often less than that. But for a once in a lifetime opportunity, I might be willing to splurge!

I spent 10 days on a sailboat in the BVI's including everything I may have paid $2k. There aint no way I could/would pay as much as $3k+ for an adventure trip. Just not interested and did not vote. Times are REAL HARD!!!

I get the hard times, just finished living in Detroit for 6 years. It's part of why I'm doing this survey, want to see what people could afford.

I have never taken a 2 week vacation. I can't even think of anyone that I know who has taken a 2 week vacation. For that matter, before I'd spend $2000 on a vacation, I'd pay off the KLR....
