Just bought a trackside rear stand from cycle gear. when I tried it out, I noticed that when the stand is placed under the lower frame, the stand is almost in an up-right positon, making it impossible to have the leverage to lift the bike. I checked some youtube videos and they all demonstrate with sport bikes which the lower frame arm (swing arm?) is higher which the handle of the rear stand is at a 45 degree angle, making it easier to lift the bike up.
are there other stand that is specifically made for cruisers? BTW, i have a 2006 shadow vlx thanks |

If it's the same Trackside rear Stand I bought from cycle gear, then God protect you. What a frightening experience. Slowly slipped while raised because of the angle of the VLX frame. When I tried to lower it and re-adjust, it was hard to control (and I'm a big guy) and came down hard. Got it under again and it eventually slipped out of place and when I tried to lower it, it spit out the stand and the bike dropped down a few inches.
Returned it and have been using two car jacks, one on each side of the frame. LOVE how stable and easy that is. |
