Some of the Wal-Marts here have huge striped off triangles or squares at the end of some of the rows where the poles for parking lot lights are. Its not unusual for 3 or 4 bikes to be parked in each one with plenty of room all around and in no way interfering with regular spots. And on a couple of occasions, I have even seen police motorcycles parked there. |

That's my preference when I'm by myself. Wife has to use the handicapped spots and it's amazing how people will park so close or partially into those spots. Another thing that drives her and I crazy is that 75% of people that use them seem to have issues related being obese. So, crippled people sometimes have to park in the back because a fat person got their doc to give them a parking permit.

@bowie on fakers:
I'm not the one to 2nd guess a docs opinion on who is handicapped. Possibly they put on weight because they are unable to exercise? Weak heart, internal injuries, there are plenty of handicaps that are not visually obvious. I so rarely see the spots filled up to begin with, that I don't think it's that big of an issue. Not around this neck of the woods where I live.

I've never seen a motorcycle-specific parking space around here, with one exception...In front of the local Cycle Gear store.
I'll often park in the striped end caps. The way I figure it, it leaves a space open for a car. Otherwise, I'll park in a regular space, keeping it back far enough that it's clearly visible so some driver doesn't race into the seemingly empty space. I don't park in the areas next to handicapped spots. They may or may not need the room...I'm not sure, so I just park elsewhere. But I've seen enough cagers use handicapped spaces just because they're lazy or in a hurry or think the inconvenience of walking a few more feet is beneath them. Probably the same people who leave shopping carts in the parking lot to roll around and bash into other peoples cars because, maybe, they are just too weak or rushed or inconsiderate to roll them back to the cart returns.

![]() Safe and sound ![]() If I go to Wal mart , Best Buy, Home Dept etc I park with the other bikes on the sidewalk out of the way of walking paths. Much safer than someone pulling into what they think is an empty space. If I have to park in a lot, I park far away as I don;t want anyone to get pissed I took a whole space closer to the door. Some people would get annoyed by that. If there is motorcycle only parking i will chose it first
