There are a lot of yuppie biker hang-outs around here and the parking lots are flooded with Harleys that only get out on the weekends. And, you'll see far more Harleys out on weekend rides around town vs weekdays. There are a ton of Harleys out here and they are indeed the dress up and pose at the bar type. I don't expect or even want to change your mind, but the statement you made was really odd to me so I had to reply.
I have some news for ya, you might not like it but NH IS HARLEY COUNTRY, and we don't have nearly the riding weather you have, yet we are out at usually the beginning of March or earlier ( unless you are crazy Steve who is riding out to Boston for some clam chowda as we type).. and those Harley boys and girls..are out for the most part..everyday. 25-35 degree mornings going to work..to ride home in 50-60 degree temps. In case you missed it, Harleys are the predominate bike..everywhere and everyday they are being ridden.

IMO brand of bike has nothing to do w/ the amount of miles one rides. It has to do w/ weather, where you live, and the amount of time you have to ride. Some have much more then others. Not really a fair comparison for most.

Me, I don't look at my mileage at the beginning of riding season. I ride as much as time allows. It's never enough, but it's the best I can do.

I put close to 16,000 miles on my bike in one year. Bought in Oct. 2011 with about 16,000 and hit 32,000 right around Nov. 2012.

I have the exact mileage somewhere but not with me. I could go check the bike but I don't feel like walking downstairs right now.

Okay. Then don't participate with me.

I think you're just trolling, now, so I'm finished with you.

Apparently the OP cares, otherwise he wouldn't have asked the question. He's new to riding and has questions.

I was taught a long time ago that:

"The only dumb question is the one you already know the answer to."

I thought we were here as a forum to help each other out and not make out like someone asked a dumb question or even as if they can't ask a question. If it really bothers anyone about the HD riders/owners, don't answer or continue to read. Be an adult and just keep moving on. Those who wish to help a riding brother out, help, don't spit on him. (If you really need to berate a newbie, there are other forums that thrive on that.)

He did ask two questions. Answer the one that would help him out and ignore the other. Easy.

It's kinda like 'Do unto others as you would have them do unto you' <---the Golden Rule

I'll put 3000 miles on my 2002 Honda Shadow Spirit last year. Are Harley Owners riding as much. How many miles did you ride on your Shadow last year?
I wouldn't know about HD riders, but I've put about 3100 miles since February this year.

Can we please, please all agree to be done with all this Harley vs. Honda crap.

I own both brands, and I'm sick of this stuff. Proves nothing.
