I own both brands, and I'm sick of this stuff. Proves nothing.

One thing I have learned in the short time I've been a member here is if you want your topic to go on for pages all you have to do is put "Harley" in the title and it seems to start a s#!t storm on here....

If Noel could only speak, he'd tell you the answer.

I'm making 100 miles a week just to commute to work and like 100 more for shopping and else... not less then 700 miles a month... now make a wild guess what your 3k is for me =)

PS: If you ride a mile in a year that's already a mile!

There are a lot of yuppie biker hang-outs around here and the parking lots are flooded with Harleys that only get out on the weekends. And, you'll see far more Harleys out on weekend rides around town vs weekdays. There are a ton of Harleys out here and they are indeed the dress up and pose at the bar type. I don't expect or even want to change your mind, but the statement you made was really odd to me so I had to reply.
Same here in Myrtle year round at any number of well known "biker bars" in Murrells Inlet on any given weekend .....Lots of Pirates ....I thought it was the proximity to the ocean at first. Then I realized it is just a whole lot people with a common interest in a singular brand of motorcycle. Nothing wrong with that. If I needed a social outlet I would join the club as well. The entry fee is palatable and there is no initiation. I have nothing against Harley as a bike and i would buy on in a second if I wanted to hang out with the big dogs. I work with one and have a customer who has a bagger. They both "ride the badge" and freely admit it.

Yes all bikes are welcome. But these people are not about riding. They are about "owning" and sharing a common interest. Like a Mini Cooper, Miata, or Corvette "club".

I am just as much a "non rider" in a different way. I ride to commute or run errands. I don't go on rides to nowhere simply for the ride. Always destination oriented. Even when it was 300 miles.

Oh and people who ride 50cc scooters here on the roads are usually DUI offenders who lost their licences or teens who cannot afford a car or the insurance. They are perfectly legal on the public roads here without a licence registration or insurance. The only requirement is the word "moped" on a plate.

I fail to see the significance of the question. Sorry.

As always, any thread comparing Harley riders to Honda riders is boring boring boring.

Why do you guys keep falling into the same trap.

Because unlike effective traps, it's easy to get out of unscathed.

Since I own both a Harley and a metric, I stay ticked off at myself all the time. Of course if you really want to see folks pile up mileage, just wander over to ADVRider. Plus some folks hit it on the head about scooter drivers. I chatted with a fella in SF who had 92k on his 250cc bike and it wasn't quite 4 years old and I have a good friend with 25k on his 2 1/2 year old scooter. I know an 82 year old guy with 30k on his year and half old Ultra and another fella with 130k on his 4 yo Road King and another with 17k on his V-Star and....get the point. It aint about the brand....

Have ridden 46000 miles in 1.5 years on a Honda Shadow, would have been the same if I was riding a Harley or any other cruiser.
