Make sure there will be enough "lean" after throwing the kickstand down especially in high wind conditions.
Rode to a grave site anniversary memorial yesterday with a group of riders and as we all lined up and were putting kickstands down, I wasn't comfortable with the gravel and dirt combination leaving my bike nearly straight up so I finagled it until I was more comfortable with it. Unfortunately, the Honda rider behind me didn't do the same thing and there it went!

Yup. Same for parking on hilly streets. If it doesn't lean enough, I find another spot.

I've been in San Francisco for 6 days and it is amazing to me the number of bikes parked on really steep hills, kickstands on the low side and not angled but 90 degrees to the curb. I'm surprised they don't fall over
