Default Cheap way to haul a motorcycle?

I am thinking about driving across the country for New Years and I want to bring my bike with me. Here are the details:

1. I drive a Honda Civic (Is this feasible?)

2. My Honda Shadow weighs around 500lbs IIRC

3. Are trailers always expensive or are there cheaper alternatives?

I don't need anything fancy, just want to be able to cut loose on two wheels in various locations.

Not that I recommend this, but this Ohio bound snow bird found a way to drag his bike back home from Florida.

Harbour freight is probally the cheapest trailer option, about $250.00, Just be sure to clean their grease out and repack with good wheel bearing grease.
I towed my 1100 ACE to Yellowstone and back with no problems with my PT Cruiser.

It's listed at 445.3. That's probably dry weight. Add about 35 lbs for fluids plus whatever accessories you've put on and you'll be there. A Civic could handle that with no problem if you get the load distributed properly.

I also checked out the Harbour Freight trailer that was mentioned, it seems legit but I would have to manually customize it to be bike ready. Also, even though that particular trailer has decent reviews I have often times been disappointed with Harbour Freight quality.

Harbor Freight is definitely hit and miss.

Have you considered renting a trailer from Uhaul? More straps, but potentially cheaper, and no dusty rotting trailer to unload in ten years.
