Sh!t, crap. Same thing. I used the portion of your statement that was durogatory. It did and does stand on its own. I didn't change a word, and my quote didn't change the context.

We get it. If you can't beat the argument, resort to beating author. There was a time on this forum when that wouldn't have been tolerated.

I say, fight every ticket you get. Chances are good that the rules were bent or broken to write you up, so you may as well bend those same rules to take a lesser/no hit.

Never consent to a search and never talk to the Police.

I'm with the "fight big brother" idea, but 84 in a 70 is blatantly illegal... Not much you can do about that. If the cop was being pissy, that's another case. And if the OP was presenting it as a "Hey, I'm going to pay my ticket, I broke the law. But, you have an officer that has a problem and I would like to see that it's taken care of," I think that something might actually happen. But, as it stands, he's fighting too many fronts at once, and on one front he's already lost.

Must be different when you are away from the fly-over states. I was always told to keep your hands on the handlebars where the LEO can see them, especially in a state like AZ that has reasonable gun control laws.

Maybe the body language of the officer (when the video is reviewed) will reveal the "yelling" to be either yelling or simply an elevated volume due to ambient background noise. They do say body language "speaks" in volume.

Just out of curiosity, what is the age of the OP?

Agreed. I would just remain still, engine off, and await instructions. The cops out here want your hands visible and stationary. I've been with people who were digging for papers before they were asked to and were told to stop (don't even ask about the buddy who got out of the truck). In cars, there's also usually a cop standing in the passenger's blind spot, monitoring them.

Besides, the OP already said the cop was yelling at him before he could remove his helmet.

Cops are there to serve, not to take out any issues they have on you. He should have just asked for license, registration, insurance and that is all. He didn't need to pretend to be a drill instructor, that is not his job. The PD needs to know that a problem may be starting to develop with this civil servant and he may need EAP or retraining.

FIGHT the ticket!! Who cares if you did speed. Traffic tickets are just a revenue source for the municipality. Check your state and local laws on how to properly file a response to the ticket and fight it. You will usually win if you contest it properly. Go online and find out how to fight the ticket and win. A buddy at work fights all tickets and helps people fight them and so far has won 23 out of 23 tickets.

So many people are willing to give up their rights... what a shame. Psychos with badges should not be allowed on the street.
Sorry, but I don't believe this b.s. at all. Fought 23 out of 23 and won them all! 23 tickets he deserves to lose his license. Fighting speeding tickets is a loosing proposition.

Thumbs down

The problem with this thread is that we are only getting one side of the story. For all we know the O.P. is the one that was yelling. Stilll think he is just trying to get out of the ticket!

While I'm done with the OP and the ignorance and disrespect toward law enforcement and the judicial system in this thread, I think ejsaenz might mean that his buddy at work helps people fight tickets and out of 23 tickets those people have acquired, he has helped them beat the system. - Not that his buddy racked up 23 tickets himself. Just an observation; correct me if I'm wrong, but that's how I read it.

More info for the inquiring minds:
Wear an open face helmet with visor.
Turned my engine off. Got my insurance card out to hand to him by the time he approached me; the yelling began. He didn't ask for my license until he stopped giving me the second degree. Didn't ask for my insurance, but I gave it to him anyway.

I'm in my 40's with two Masters degrees.
BTW: I was riding my Beemer bike.

I'm on your side but I hate it when people try to validate their intelligence or trustwortiness by stating their education. I've had many years of education for the various fields I've worked in and none of it made me more honest, wise, or intellectual. It just made me more capable of working those specific jobs and gave me the required certification. I won't trust someone just because they spent time in school. Sorry, just had to vent on that subject as some of the wisest, most honest people I've encountered in life were poorly educated.
