I have a 97 1100 ace and I need a new headlight. I would like know what other riders are using if it's different from stock. I would like a headlight that uses less voltage or amperage than the stock unit, but is just as bright.

i just swapped my stock with a $25 Silverstar Ultra, and it's AWESOME. 5 times brighter, and super wide. Mine (07 Sabre) took the 9003 bulb.

I think one of the best headlight replacements (not bulb) for our bikes is the VTX headlight. It's subjective and some may disagree, but I think it really fills out the bike. Unfortunately they're hard to come by. You can buy the parts for around $250.

Anyway, yes the Silverstar Ultra is an awesome bulb and probably the less expensive of the bunch compared to PIAA which I swear by (I've used both and then some). I have the PIAA GT-X, for its color enhancement technology. Here is my thread of interest: H4 Headlamp Bulb Thoughts PIAA vs Stock Here's some detailed information about bulbs as well (I found it interesting, maybe you will to): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Headlamp Everybody has a preference whether it be hue, vibration resistance and/or price. Many have luck with bulbs that are not labeled as vibration resistant. One thing is certain though, if you do a lot of night riding carry a spare bulb with you.

A very simple bracket can be made to incorporate any style of lamp housing. I fab'd my own for the old school lamp I bought. Simple flat steel, a vice and hammer, couple of bolts and holes: ![]() ![]()
