I Googled the Newsweek editon and it is indeed Jan Smithers and she was a hottie.

I'm with you all the way as to Jan Smithers - she was my favorite too. On the first go-round of WKRP anyway. They brought in Tawny Kitaen later on, I believe to replace Loni Anderson who married Burt Reynolds (not on WKRP, but in what passes for Real Life out there in Hollywood.) But for that all-too-brief, shining stretch of time that Tawny was on the show.......well, all I can say is that, from my standpoint, life was very, very good.
