Default Riding between cars. Do YOU do it?

I live in California where its legal to ride the line in between lanes to pass cars. I have never done it and can't see any good reason to do it, lots of risk, little reward. Apparently I am in the minority as other bikers pass me in between lanes while I am riding behind a car. I would like some opinions on this from my enlightened forum participants.::confused: Thoughts?

It's called "lane splitting" or "lane sharing",,not many states allow it. In SC you are not allowed to ride tandem. Kind of a dangerous undertaking imo.

LOL!

not legal here, but if it was, not sure I'd risk it.

It's called lane splitting. No I dont do it. I have seen it out there but only in severe traffic jams. Here I am not sure if its legal or not, I have no desire to do it so it does not matter.

Simply no, I don't. I wouldn't even if it were legal here.

Nope. Not legal and even if it was I like my bike and body the way it is. With no asphalt.

Not while in motion but you bet your ass I'd be skipping to the front of the line at lights in heavy traffic.

In a word, no. Not even when it's legal.

I am of the same opinion as you all seem to be. I see bikes on the 405 splitting lanes when traffic is moving at 40 miles an hour. Slow for a freeway, but one dude changes lanes or clip a mirror going 50 and that is all folks! Mabye I am a naive noob but IMO if you ride respectfully and obey the same rules as the cars, you'll get a little more respect on your bike
