I bought my 02 shadow sabre in June of this year. It has 6600 miles on the odometer. I looked at the manufacturer date on the tires and they were April 01 so I knew they were the OEM tires and that the odometer was correct, the tires were in great shape with lots of tread and no weather check. I replaced them as soon as I bought the bike because I wasn't going to ride on 10 + year old tires. If you think the odometer was changed check the tire date. Other things like brake pads, if they are worn out in 5000 miles you know that something isn't right. Usually overall inspection of the bike can tell if the miles were tampered with

We call it clocking, It's illegal over here but every bike that gets imported from the USA has lower milage on it than you would expect for the year so they are probably all clocked..Although it is illegal to clock a vehicle it is not illegal to fit a new or used speedometer which can have zero or low milage on it..
