Ok, guys. I just bought Powerlet heated jacket liner from an ebay seller, motoclub-house. Total cost for the jacket was $179 shipped. He has listings for a size large, but if you sent him a note he will substitute other sizes. Make sure he has them in stock before doing a buy it now option. This jacket comes with the Powerlet warranty.
This is just the jacket, and not the controller or hookups. The best price I found for a dual controller (I have gloves as well) which comes with the hookups, is $84.99 on ebay through First Gear. Their Heat-trollers are the same as powerlet. They make the powerlet controllers. There are also package deals on powerlet products through several ebay sellers. One, nicksr1200clc has liner, dual remote controller and gloves for $389 shipped. It's only in his store so you have to look for it. Not a plug. Not related to any of these people. Just been shopping and searching for several weeks and thought I would pass on the deals I found for those others who have decided to WUSS out on the cold! |

Thanks. I'm checking this out. Saw in your post in another thread that you're using Gerbing's gloves. Anything special about connecting them to Powerlet?
On edit: Is this the link to that Powerlet jacket liner? And more -- WebBikeWorld heated jacket reviews: o Gerbing's o Powerlet

Just a note about Gerbing. I've been waiting on an order for well over 2 months. There is no one answering the phones, no response and their press room talks about them having been bought out. They're in trouble.

Place around me is running 25% off Gerbing, though it doesn't include the accessories.
Worried about the statement above, maybe I should run out and buy some pants to complete my gerbing set incase they are in as much trouble as posted above.

Hadn't heard about the Gerbing thing. Makes me think that this might be why all of a sudden there is so much of it on sale. I'm pretty sure that they still have the military contract which should have carried them for awhile.
I went with Gerbing G3 gloves because Powerlet only has liners. They are supposed to plug into the end of the powerlet jacket liner as they both have the same coax connections and, according to the research I did, powerlet intentionally designed their products (primarily their connections) to work with Gerbing. Powerlet states they are fully compatible. Someone on this forum mentioned that they found cheaper gear, although they didn't mention what the brand is or where it is located. I wish they would tell so that we can save more $. Several forums seem to have managed to create a buying group that got pretty good discounts by buying 15-units of gear at a time from the companies. I gotta say, I found cheaper gear made by safe and warm, and by Firstgear. I read everything I could about all the gear before making my choice. There are alot of folks who love the Safe and Warm label, and it seems that the owner/creator of the Safe and Warm gear has a great PERSONAL relationship with alot of people on the forum. The reviews for their products just didn't seem to be as strong as the reviews for Powerlet. One forum thread talked about the competition between Powerlet and Gerbing and said that Powerlet had set out to become the number one source. Several indicated that powerlet was just relabeled safe and warm. I can't validate that, but I do know that powerlet has not denied that their controllers are identical to the firstgear/safe and warm controllers and are made by them and relabeled for powerlet. Powerlet denies that their clothing is identical to the safe and warm/firstgear, but admits that it is made in the same factory, but to "their specifications." I found that interesting. |

Update. Gerbing was bought out, but not a "bargain basement fire sale" if you know what I mean. They are still financially viable and considering that the folks who bought them are installing a Ralph Lauren exec to run it, will probably do a heck of a marketing job in the coming months.
Should be interesting! |

Hope that isn't the case. If so, I got lucky. I just sent in a jacket liner for warranty service and got it back in only two weeks, free of charge. Gerbings is aces with me.
