Ha. Not sure "hitting the road" is the best marketing phrase but the irony alone is classic.

Looks promising. Can't wait to see what the price point will be for a street-legal version.

from the article..

t’s a dirty little secret: motorcycle helmets can sometimes do more harm than good. Optimized for high velocity impacts, when faced with low speed crashes their stiff energy absorbing EPS lining doesn’t deform and can transfer too much energy to the wearer’s skull.
It’s a compromise that saves lives, but leads to many minor concussions that could add up to major health problems down the road, especially among off-road riders who take a lot of low speed spills.

Aside from the down play on the major injuries they can cause , this opening statement is what I have said for years

Mmmmmm..

Just looking at the picture before reading the article, I thought it is a helmet/brake light/tail light thing. I think that would be a good idea too. Lol

I don't think your reading it as meant Dave, They say a regular helmet tranfurs too much energy to the head in a impact, but with NO helmet ALL of the impact energy is transfused to the head, Best defense.... Don't wack your head lol

Too bad the story doesn't include data for how many g's of acceleration on an unprotected head.

The helmet looks like a good idea if it is effective.

I read it just fine.. don't wear a helmet you may die now , wear a helmet you may die later..like say football players.. at a greater cost with injuries you did not even know you had, possibly more suffering for your family, with possible mental issues that cause you to do things like suicide/murder...just sayin

That is a completely anecdotal statement with no basis in fact or reality. You can dump your bike doing 2 mph in a gas station and hit your head on the concrete. No helmet, you're likely to suffer more damage vs wearing a helmet.

You can lay the bike down at speed, get knocked unconscious and slide down the road on your face. Full face helmet, no problem. No helmet, you no longer have a chin, nose, teeth etc.

Having wrecked a few bikes and had my life saved by a helmet once already no argument will ever convince me that its somehow safer to ride without gear.

Do you wear boots? All that extra mass vs tennis shoes obviously causes broken ankles.

Sounds pretty dumb right?
