+1 on Gerbing heated gear. I have the Core 7.5v battery powered gloved and vest. My commute is an hour each way. On hi the batteries last about 2 hrs. That's plenty for the commute. I rarely have to use hi even down in the 30s. It was worth the nearly $400 I spent on everything.

I'll make that +2. They stand behind their products, too. A buddy gave me a used jacket liner last year that quit working toward the end of winter. On the advice of the local Gerbing's rep, I sent it back for warranty repair; and I got it back, good as new in about two weeks, free of charge. May as well give 'em a little love here.

The Gerbing gloves were the best cold weather investment I've made.

Bigger Lowers and bar chaps made a huge difference on how much hits my legs and feet. I don't have to turn on the heated soles until 10-15 degrees colder than normal.

Good gloves but now what you want for riding the bike I don't think . He does not ride - he is going to use them for going to late season football games and around the place on very cold days when he has to be outside.

Shaded thermometer said 28 F this morning here in Sack-a-Tomatoes, CA.
Best cold weather gloves I ever had were some snowmobile gloves. They were plenny warm and were quite waterproof. The only thing snowmobile gloves lack for moto riding is the heavier abrasion and impact protection.

I can't help too much. I got the cold weather gear from CycleGear. Socks, pants, shirt and neck thing. It was good to about 40 here, any colder and I can't ride. I have respiratory issues so it makes it tough to inhale cold air.
