They advertise them for more than what they sold for new because they are trying to recoup all of the money they spent on bling. But that doesn't mean they sell them for that. Also I suspect there are a lot more garage ornament Harleys than Hondas - I haven't actually done a study, but one does tend to see a lot of very low mileage vintage Harleys listed.

Thats looks like some kind of "buy here, pay here" slime ball, representing it now.

Local Honda dealer has a new 2012 Spirit for $6900. Moving out the '12s I guess.

I recently saw an add for a 1971 CB175 for $2000. I'm sure that was less than a grand when is sold at retail. I suppose that it's now a collector item. Still if I was really interested, I'd try to talk him down a bit.

When I was looking for my current ride, I found a listing on Craigs List for a '74 Kawasaki kh400 triple with an asking price of $2000. It looked like it had been stored in a barn...on the level below some serious livestock...for at least 3 decades. I bought mine used in '82 for $600 in great shape. I know that technically they have some collector value now, but truly, the condition of this bike nearly brought a tear to the eye. I'd love to know what they finally got for it. I'm doubting it hit four figures.
