Default +1 and more

+1 to brewman
to those that are against modulation I suggest you try it first and let the science speak for itself. Take your riskiest ride without the modulator, on high traffic hour then do it again and notice the difference in the side road pull outs. Obviously it wont help with the 25% rear issues but it will improve the odds on the 75% frontal issues.

I have never actually seen any bike with them before so I have no idea if they are good or not.
On our cruisers I have fit "spot lights" on light bars for extra visibility.

3 lights in a triangle effect are much more noticeable than a single light.

I been in three accidents and all three times the other driver said "he never saw me," All three times I had TWO headlights, and two of the three times I was in a SUV stopped at an intersection when they hit me !!!!! The other time I has in a car and other driver was so drunk he was barely conscious....

I've seen headlight modulators before... Looks like the headlight bracket is broke as you go down the road. Little to nothing more.

I will skip the flashy light.

First hand experience riding years be fore and after installing them. I also run a light. Bar which gets me a lot of hi beam flashes at. Night...but they all SEE me and that is all that matters. I installed red ones on the rear lights. Turn signals and brake modulate red on stops
Me three. I have this same setup on my bike, and believe it helps. Along with many of the other defensive riding practices mentioned on this thread and many others.

To make them more noticeable.
Exactly. Some want to be noticed for a paint job. I want to be noticed to keep the paint where it is. Flashing lights get attention regardless of color. I don't care who they "annoy" If they are annoyed they SEE me. Lord knows how many times driver's "annoy" me. Far more I suspect.

The only thing negative I have to say about them is sometimes when riding behind a car it will slow down believing I may be a LEO if I am geared up. I have actually had people pull to the side twice in the 15 years I have been using them. The latest a couple years ago,

Maybe from the front through a rear view mirror with a TourMaster and modular helmet I may look like a LEO behind the shield. Who knows. Only happens in the Winter. In the Summer I ride without any gear.

Same. Whether it is because they think I'm a LEO or just don't like having the light behind them makes no difference. I view it as a positive, though -- reasonable, responsible drivers making a decision that enhances safety for all concerned even though it adds a few seconds of inconvenience to their lives.

The negative that I have encountered (once) is a driver slowing to half the speed limit then holding that speed. Can't really say it was the modulator, though -- the old woman held her speed even when the limit dropped to less than what she was doing.

I thought about turning it off when behind another vehicle with no vehicle behind me. but I learned a long time ago drivers making a left or entering from the right are fixated on the car and any CAR behind it not a bike that may be harder to see....If I pull to the same side of the oncoming vehicle looking to enter they WILL see the flashing light.

People will make a left or enter from a side street right after the car in front of a bike is clear..THEN they see the bike as they are making their move...too late. I make sure they see my light bar and center modulator.

To make them more noticeable.

Why do people crash into emergency vehicles with flashing lights

Or better yet why do people crash into motorcycles with a guy wearing a lighted helmet, flashing vest and flashing lights?.. Because people are dumb, blind and self absorbed..
