AMA. More of less the roadside is a benefit on top of helping them fight the cause.
I have used the roadside twice for my nomad, and one time a guy showed up that only towed bikes. It was a really nice setup with a wheel chock. It would lower down a platform out the back of the bed that then rolled onto the ground. The guy rode bikes and took care of my bike getting it home. One time it was just a straight up flatbed, but I was in the middle of nowhere so I couldn't complain. There are also some discounts that come with AMA. I have been to many places that don't say they take AMA, but will give me the AAA discount with it. I always ask.

AAA will provide roadside assistance to motorcycles for an added fee. I've been a premium member of AAA for about 20 years... The fees I've saved in towing my vehicles has more than paid my annual dues. I joined AMA (American Motorcyclist Association) for the roadside assistance--the cost was about what the premium was for the endorsement with AAA. AMA is also a lobbying organization. By joining AMA, you support their efforts, among other things, to combat legislation requiring the minimum purchase of 4 gallons of gas at 15% pumps; to prevent motorcycle only roadblocks; regarding helmet laws; generally protecting your rights and freedoms as a motorcyclist.

I dropped AMA . I had a bad experience with them on a trip to Texas. I was forced to use them twice on the same trip. Once for a flat tire, about 600 miles from home. It took them 9 Hours to respond, from the time of the first call. Five calls later, I got the bike towed. The second time, I was 90 miles from Huston. I got bad Gas at a station on a bask road. It took them 7 hours to get to me. I found out from the tow truck driver, that they also do AAA. He told me they take care of the AAA calls first. " It pays more " That's what he told me ! So now all I have is AAA. I have had to use it twice wile on the bike. Each time they responded within the hour.

I have AAA but have never had to use for the bike. My ex father-in-law once did and the tow truck ended up breaking the windshield on his Goldwing but they did get it towed to his place.

People need to stop comparing the 2, AMA is good because they fight the government on bull **** laws (and other stuff). AAA has added benefits far over towing. Like I got a bull’s eye on the cage windshield free fix (got reimbursement). If I’m on that weeklong trip on my bike and someone steels all my stuff out of my saddle bags AAA will give me up to 500$ to buy new clothing. You also get discounts at lots of places.
I have never had AMA so I can’t compare to AAA but I like AAA’s RSA. I do pay for the premium membership, but that free gas on the side of the road has helped me a few times. Compare Our Membership Levels | AAA Northern California, Nevada and Utah |

I used to work for a tow company that had the AAA contract for our area. If the tow company has the AAA contract and the AMA contract a AAA tow call will get the higher priority. AAA requires the driver to get to the call within so many minutes, (when I drove it was thirty minutes), or you lose the call to the next closest tow company. No other tow services has that requirement. AAA is the 600 pound guerilla so they get to call the shots.
