Actually, the noisiest helmet I have is the FF. My 3/4 and 1/2 are much quieter. The 1/2 being the best. The FF seems like it amplifies my exhaust.

Agreed. You can spend/waste a lot of money on helmets that may or may not solve your problem when a set of good earplugs will do the trick.

I rarely use them for local riding, but I almost always use them when I know I'm going to be on the superslabs. Besides reducing the wind noise, a quieter ride seems to reduce fatigue on long stretches, too.

I have a pair of cheap-o disposable foam earplugs in my saddlebags in case I lose or forget the good ones. For the good ones, I've been using Etymotic ETY's. Etymotic Research, Inc. - ETY-Plugs ER20 High Fidelity Earplugs which work fine, plus they,re easily cleanable and affordable.

They look like the ends would stick out too much for a helmet, but they don't get in the way at all. Plus, they don't muffle and block out sounds you may want to hear...they just turn down the volume. It took very little time to get used to them.

My full face HJC is noisy as well. It's almost unbearable without earplugs on long rides. It's just something about the way the helmet amplifies the wind noise. My Licks NOVDOT is MUCH quieter and it's an open face 3/4 helmet.
Yes, a 3/4 helmet will always be quieter than a FF because of the reason I mentioned before. It's at the point where the edges of faceshield meet the helmet where the noise is generated. OTOH, if your lower face ever meets the pavement I'm sure it will make a truly horrible noise.

Come to think of it, so will you.

My Shoei full face is very noisy. It's the only one I've worn so I can't compare it to others.

Interestingly, I find that the wind noise on mine comes from the rim at the back of the helmet. If I stuff something into the space between the back of my neck and the back rim of the helmet, the noise disappears almost completely.

I haven't found a practical way to do this for more than a few minutes at a time, but I'm working on it.

Thanks and Merry Christmas to all.
My HJC is the same way. Except for that, I love the helmet. My Shoei RF1000 is much quieter, but not as comfy.

Make sure the screws on the visor mechanism are tight on the HJC. Mine loosened up over time and made the helmet very noisy.

One choice would be a 469 dollar helmet.

or

69 cents earplugs.

I choose the latter.
