Ethanol Free Fuel

Was filling my bike at Costco the other day and noticed they were 10% Ethanol. Knowing that ethanol produces less energy than gas, and thus, reduces MPG, I was curious if I had any local stations around me which did not have ethanol added to their fuel.

I fould the website linked below which supposedly list gas stations that are ethanol free. I will visit some on the list local to me in an attempt to verify. I thought I would share the site in case anyone else had similar interests.

I don't know for certain, but I was told that fuel sold at marinas for boats is supposed to be ethanol free. According to the site posted, it appears that all places in our area are boat related.

Most of the ones around my house are the Hyvee Grocery store chain, so I will check it out.

Here’s another site. I compared them in my area and they both listed different vendors so I guess between the two it give you a pretty good list.

Hard to believe anyone on something like this when he/she doesn't know how to spell hygroscopic and believes that ethanol attacks fiberglass. (It doesn't affect the glass, it affects the resin that binds the glass fibers.)

But, hey, anyone riding a Goldwing has plenty of room to carry the homebuilt ethanol-extraction rig. And plenty of water, too.

I wouldn't trust this website. It seems some folks are relying whether or not there are ethanol stickers on the pumps to say whether they are ethanol free or not.

For the life of my, I can't figure out why people are so concerned about fuel mileage when running 10% ethanol? Especially on a motorcycle; you're already getting better mileage than the most fuel efficient cars on the market..........

When the store close to my house quit carrying ethanol free gas, I was worried about mileage. It did not change until the weather turned colder and I lost about 3-4 miles per gallon. 65mpg down to 61-62mpg, I'll go broke like that. Actually I am not sure if it was the ethanol or if they switched to a winter blend. The one thing I do know is the bike sure runs better sucking that cold air in. Of course if I noticed the extra power, I might have been cranking that throttle a little harder too.
I have not noticed any difference in the cages milage, but the van I used to have got about 50 miles less per tank with ethanol!!
