Here's some data that might help:
Quote:
The rear fender rules out the Spirit. The look of the exhaust, lack of hardbags and windscreen rules out the ACE Tourer. The exhaust (it looks OEM to me) rules out the Aero. So I think it's a Sabre, a VT1100C2. (Note that the 1999 VT1100C2 has a different engine.) All Those As and ACs you posted don't have any meaning with genuine Honda shop manuals or when ordering Honda parts in the U.S.

It Does look like an A.C.E. but there wasn't a 2001 1100 ACE in the U.S., just a 1100T and that is not a T. The 95-99 1100 ACES were VT1100C2 but in 2000 the Sabre came out and was labeled VT1100C2, and that is not a Sabre you have. The Sabres have cast wheels and a different front fender. It does look like an ACE.

Yes, it does. Except for the tank emblem -- not that much of a problem because it could have been changed. But the year rules out ACE.
The Spirit came with a short rear fender -- it didn't wrap around the back of the tire. Both the Aero and ACE Tourer had 2-into-1 exhausts. (The Tourer had hardbags and windscreen, too.) Didn't know the Sabre came with cast wheels that's why I guessed Sabre. Nothing else fits -- if it is a 2001. The wheels could have been changed, not that I'd ever do that. (I like the look of spoke wheels but not nearly enough to make the change. Everything else about them is negative.)

But the VT1100s were built in the U.S. back then. They could have done some mix-and-match to make unique models for export. The only thing that really matters is whether the engine is single-pin crank or dual-pin crank. Most everything else (other than California emission controls) about the VT1100s was pretty much the same.
This old thread has links to tools for identifying more than just the data coded into the VIN. Probably links to couple of other VIN decoders, too, IIRC.

The OP is from South Africa and they may have still been selling them there in 2001. Wire rims won't fit on a Sabre without changing the rear brakes from disc to drum. The tank emblem is wrong for a Sabre also.
