Default winter issue

Ok here is my issue. Last year was my first winter with the bike. I don't have a garage or a shed so i keep it on my driveway. Last winter I stored my bike in a friends garage during the winter. So now for my problem. I have a friend who is willing to give my bike shelter for the winter but i am still riding. What are your thoughts on leaving the bike out on the driveway the whole season? I do have a waterproof battery tender and a cover(which i dont use too much because i find it holds too much moisture in). Any advice/opinions would be greatly appreciated
Thanks
Dorf.

If your cover holds moisture in you will be looking at rust in the spring. Have you considered a storage unit? You might be able to get a short term lease or month to month rental.

I'm not too anal retentive about my bike, so it's just out there in the elements all year long. Same thing here - waterproof battery tender for the cold months. I figure I'll wash it in the spring, or maybe on an unseasonably warm day in February. I ride every day. No time for the finer stuff.

thanks for the advice. all very helpful. Building a shelter might be a good way to go.

Just ride it and the elements won't be any worse than any other time of the ur, unless u get a lot of snow and they salt the roads

A good motorcycle cover should not retain moisture (vented). So up to you whether to ride and cover or to store. I like my bikes to last a long time and don't need them to commute so store them once the fun months are over.

That's the ticket. You could also use metal conduit pipes if you can find the angled corner connectors. The roof should definitely have a steep pitch, either a peak in the middle or lean-to style.

Keep an eye on the local Craig's List..every now and then a small portable garage or even a bike barn shows up. The advantage with those is you can drop a 60 watt light bulb in there and that will kill the moisture issue.
