I have the pan and the foam is in pretty good shape. I have an old but in great shape leather vest that doesn't fit me any more. I'm considering using it to cover the rear seat, any thoughts?

You are not going to like this but I would suggest using a plastic coated leatherette, leather soaks up the rain, almost as quickly as a sponge..I have ridden thousands of miles in the rain, it has soaked through my reinforced leather jacket, a lumberjack padded shirt, and my underclothes..real leather is not waterproof..
