Finally put bags on my bike ('05 Sabre). Here's where I'm confused. One side had a "stay"/"bracket"/"support" when I bought the bike to keep the bag out of the rear wheel. The other side didn't. And I haven't been able to find any of these brackets online. So, do I trust that the bag on the side without the bracket will not end up in my rear wheel or do I continue my hunt? BTW, what confuses me even more is that I easily found these same type brackets for many other bikes. Please help!

J&P has them. You'll be alot happier with the supports. Without them any kind of weight will cause the bags to lean into the wheel. |

That bracket that comes with the bike stock is not for bags, its to keep a helmet out of the wheel if you attach a helmet to the helmet lock right above that brace.
You will need a set of supports, one for each side.. I see the other guys put some links up... You can also get them cheap on Ebay - bout 40+ shipping. Or if you want them to be removable you can look at Easy Brackets, or Ghost Brakets...

You can also get the Honda line saddle bag support. They may cost a little more than others. I like them because the have a piece that goes under the bag to give it support. I had been using a set of bags with an over the seat strap. When I got the saddle bag supports I ran four stainless bolts through each bag into the saddle bag support. I also used four large stainless fender washers behind each bolt.
