It's not uncommon to get caught in a bad thunderstorm in VA when riding, but to get pelted by hail (which is painful) is more unusual.
We got so much hail in 15 minutes that it looked like snow had fallen. Let's just say that I quickly got the Hail Back Home.

Got caught in a hail storm one day. Wide open spaces no trees no bridges no where to hide.
It's 90 degrees and ice is falling from the sky. I'm standing there wearing a helmet and a leather jacket just trying to be as small as possible. |

No, and hopefully I will never feel what it is like to be pelted by hail. I am sure it is very painful. OUCH!
