Wouldn't lemon scented pledge work?? I think it cleans everything and makes it shiny too!

Hell I used a Black Sharpie to cover a few nicks on my Matte Black Revolver that were bugging me.

That dry erase marker method seems interesting, but i've never tried it personally.
Dry erase method works on white boards, I've rehabbed more than I care to count with that method.

At least worth a shot. Still think daddy needs to spring for a new helmet just on principal. Something nice.
