- Got an 1100 ACE with stock exhaust & carbs? - Got a clean air filter? - Run your tires on the high end of the PSI spec? - Carbs synced? Those four alone should get you to 130 or so before reserve. If you're not reaching that, you've got issues with your right wrist. As an exercise -- repeat, exercise NOT everyday riding -- try to stretch a tank absolutely as far as you can. No hard accelerations, speeds top out at 45 MPH, etc. When I did that and got 60+ MPG it REALLY opened my eyes. I can't maintain that fuel efficiency because it takes all the fun out of riding but it really taught me what the bike could do. You get to 130 miles without reserve on a regular basis and the punch mod plus Metzeler ME880s (running 40+ PSI) will get you 150-160 per tank when you keep the speed under 80 MPH. FWIW, the ten last fuel stops last year were: miles / gallons o 95.1 / 2.229 o 145.8 / 3.197 o 163.9 / 3.761 o 110.9 / 2.538 o 139.6 / 2.854 o 159.2 / 3.097 o 162.5 / 3.348 o 174.4 / 4.000 o 152.3 / 3.570 o 145.6 / 3.413 That pretty much covers my ride from here to the Switzerland Inn and back. I track this with the MyRide app for the iPhone on my iPod Touch.
