I have a black '99 Shadow Spirit 1100cc

Does anybody know if the Honda decals on the tank just have a clearcoat over them?

Or under them as well?

I want to blowdry the decals off for an all black look.

Don't be ashamed, leave the sticker. Hondas are good.

Besides, by the time you decide to sell it you'll be looking for replacements.

Haha, I'm far from ashamed my friend

I've been on Honda's side for a long time now and never miss an opportunity to say how great they are... just love the all black look, I've never liked decals... ever lol.

So... guess I'll blowdry it and find out, if it's not clearcoated undernearth, time to visit my local shop.

They have a clear coat over them. You will not be able to get them off with a blow drier.

Sandpaper.

I see you are in NorCal. I am in Sacramento. I have a few junkyards here that sell used tanks for about $200. Might want to look into it.

Yea, from what i remember you have to sand and scratch them off. Them you have to repaint the tank since they won't be clean in the area of the stickers. Noone has posted a How To that I can find so If you end up taking them off maybe you should post some pictures showing the end result for others to see????

Decals are UNDER the clear coat. No option except to sand them down, paint to match.

Me? I don't mind...

To each his own, I guess. HD does the same thing.

I'll be doing this same thing, come winter time. I've got a 96 1100, Purple and White. Gonna have a totally new look come springtime! Whoohoo!
