What are you trying to fix?

$40 + shipping from Helm, Inc. I know that doesn't help when money is tight.

There was a link here to the genuine Honda Common Service Manual a few weeks back. I know it won't address your specific needs but if it still works you might want to download that for your library.

Thanks... I found the link for the Honda Common Service Manual...Very informative manual...I downloaded it...but it's not very helpful for a rebuild project...Now if I could
find a real Honda Service Manual link for a 87 VT 1100 ... I don't want to put out money
I don't have to spend for yet another manual until I am 100% sure it will tell me what I need to know ... Such as ... How to feed the main wiring harness through the frame and
the other stuff that needs to be re-installed...coolant stuff...battery holder and ignition...
filter box...Chime in people...I'm all ears...Thanks

He did ask for a "real" Honda service manual. Those are NOT genuine Honda manuals -- at least not the VT1100 ones.

The easy tell? Honda NEVER published one that covered all VT1100s from 1985 through 1998. One is even labelled as Haynes in the filename.

You won't get that from a genuine Honda Service Manual. Not step-by-step, anyway. There will be plenty enough information to figure it out but you'll have to jump from section to section and do some hands-on experimenting to interpret some of the directions.

Why? Because Honda did not publish re-build manuals then call them Service Manuals. The basic mindset in putting the manuals together was taking an assembled bike apart to fix something then putting it back together. I believe (But have never tested it.) that almost all the information you'll need is in there but you'll have to sit down with the manual and write up a workplan. It will be frustrating because you'll have to start over more than once after finding that you need to go back and change the order because something you come to in, say step 17, should have been done back in, say step 3.

Finding torque values is what frustrates me the most. It takes a while to get used to the organization in the Honda manuals. I can't help you with a loaner but maybe if we keep the thread going someone who can will chime in.

He is right...they are Haynes or Clymers manuals...Not Honda Service Manuals. I have both in paper back that I purchased and both lack the details I am seeking...I may
post another thread asking other 87 to 92 owners it they would email me some picture
of the way their main wiring harness is running through the frame of their bikes...Hopefully an owner of a bike between 87 to 92 has a Honda Service Manual will chime in and let me know if it provide guidance in installing a wiring harness to the frame,
so I don't spend more money for another manual that lacks the detail I am looking for...??

Double checked and you're right -- different Honda service manuals for '85-86 ( part# 61MG801 ) than for '87-90 ( part# 61MM808 ). Haynes and Clymer have them together, along with just about every other VT1100 in the 20th century. I couldn't begin to guess what the differences are but it is not like Honda to dramatically overhaul a product after 2 years. It isn't like Honda to have 2 service manuals for the same bike, either.

Someone who knows a lot more than me needs to chime in.
