Thumbs down WTF? Colorado is the West Coast??

Why is a WEST COAST rally being held in a state that is no where NEAR the west coast? Colorado is located just west of the centerline of the USA! You still have to go through Utah, Nevada and California before you reach the west coast... If anything, its the Mid-West...

The East Coast Rally is being held....on the East Coast. Go figure.

Hey, I live in Colorado and right about now, in this (continued) heat I could use the ocean.

Maybe the 'real west coast' sank into the ocean and Colorado is the new California!

After all, this is 2012.

Hold on, le'me look out the window......

Nah. No ocean there. Just the Chinese restaurant with really expensive, lousy food.

Too bad, though. I had my fins, snorkle, speargun and rubber ducky all ready to go.

So much for 2012.

Hey, between a 200 foot rise in sea level and California falling into the Pacific (or moving to Alaska if that happens first), Colorado may very well be the west coast before you know it.

But I get your point. The ECR has been in Virginia, North Carolina and Georgia the years I've been going -- all states that touch the Atlantic. This year we'll be in West Virginia; that seems a little too inland for me -- but it does have some FANTASTIC riding.

As a matter of fact, the East Coast rally is being held 4 states removed from the cost. Delaware, then Maryland, then Virginia, then West Virgina - so that is further away than Colorado is from the coast.

I lived in New Mexico (a state due south of Colorado) for quite a few years and it was considered west or south west. Never never was it considered central or even west central, so I don't know where you took geography.

Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Kansas are just west of the center-line of the US.

If you're going to work that hard at it, you might as well throw in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

I'm sitting here on the porch of my vacation house looking out over the Atlantic Ocean. I was told that Virginia Beach was in Virginia, but I still learn new things every day. Damn, I've lived here 35 years and always thought it bordered the coast. (Those Jamestown settlers sure were persistent to go so far inland!)

Interesting sidebar: West Virginia seceded from Virginia during the Civil War in order to join the Union. Admitted in 1863 -- questionably. Since the Union did not recognize the secession of the Confederate states AND the Constitution precludes forming a new state out of an existing one...

Thats weird...if you go back to the main forum page, below the "West Coast Hondashadow.net Rally 2012" is a link that says "Click here for Rally schedule." That was where I first saw the date and location. But now that link just brings you right back to the main forum page. WEIRD!
