One of the guys on the Goldwing forum I visit had posted the following as being nice rides in the Hendersonville area. I don't know the area at all, so I have no idea where these roads are, but here is what he suggested as nice rides:
Route #1. US-64 east out of Hendersonville to Bat Cave. NC-9 from Bat Cave, then right onto Old Fort Road to Old Fort. US-70 east out of Old Fort, then left onto NC-80. Follow NC-80 up the mountain. After crossing the BRP, follow 80 down the mountain to Micaville. Head east on US-19E for a couple of miles, then left back onto NC-80. Follow 80 to Loafers Glory and have a cheeseburger lunch at Bonnie and Clyde's joint. After your meal head west on NC-226 through Toecane and Red Hill. Just past Red Hill turn left onto NC-197. When 197 turns hard right and crosses the railroad track, go straight on Huntdale Road. When you cross the river, keep right on Huntingdale Road and follow it to US-19W. Right on 19W to the end. You are in Tennessee now. Turn left onto TN-352 and follow it back into NC where the road becomes NC-212. Where 212 joins NC-208 turn left onto 208. At the junction with US-25 turn right and follow this route to Hot Springs (nice places to eat here, too). In Hot Springs turn left (stay straight actually) onto NC-209 and follow it all the way to Waynesville. Out of Waynesville head east on US-276 through Cruso, over the mountain to Brevard. Out of Brevard take US-64 back to Hendersonville. Lots of curves, good scenery, relatively uncrowded roads. Here's another. Route #2. US-64 to Brevard. US-276 over the mountain past Cruso. Turn left onto NC-215 at the junction with 276. Follow 215 to its junction with US-64. Turn left, then right onto US-178 at Rosman. Follow 178 into South Carolina to the junction with SC-11. Turn left onto 11 and enjoy the scenery to your left. Turn left onto US-276 and follow it back into North Carolina. In Brevard turn right onto US-64 back to Hendersonville. Curvy roads, good scenery, shorter than route #1. |

Sadie,
Two of my good friends are planning on riding down from Alexandria VA, and Akron OH to ride with us. I am not sure what day they plan to arrive. So add 2 more to the list, Brian and Tom. We are still planning on riding up together on Thursday, right? I took vacation on Thurs and Fri. I can't wait!! |
