Just to let you all know that had met tony he is having some serious heart issues. He went in for a neuclar stress test and I had to take him right down to the hospital to have a cath done , he has some serious blockage, they are very reluctant to do open heart surgery because of his age, since those kinds of surgeries only last about 10 years and usually can not do more then 2 they are trying stints,, he spent the night in cardiac icu .........please pray if you are so inclined, keep a positive thought, whatever way you relate to your higher power , keep him in your thoughts, I know he will be ok for now but I worry that he will not be able to stop smoking he has no choice and must stop...... I want him around a long time ............thanks guys

I think most would agree that it's easier to quit ANYTHING other than the nic sticks... I just keep reminding myself of all the insurance money I have to look forward to if I can outlive Dave..

I had a doctor rush me to the hospital about 5 years ago for a heart cath. He scared the crap out of me and made quiting the cigs real easy. Of course when I got a clean bill of health I started smoking again. I hope everything turns out well for Tony and that this is just a wakeup call.

Jo, have him look into hypnosis. It worked for me 25 years ago. I didn't lose the desire for a cigarette but there isn't any of the frustration from not having one. I tell my wife that if the doctor said I was dying tomorrow the first thing I would do is light up a cigarette.

Thank you everyone...... just an date, Tony is still smoke free, he is walking about 3 miles 3 times a day now, he says he will spend the time it took him to smoke a pack a day walking now , he has been very aware of his diet too........he wont go back to the heart doc for a few weeks they will repeat his neuclar stress test to see how the stints are doing then they will do the artery in the front that is 88% blocked.......or make the decision whether the stints in the back are doing the job if they arent they will do open heart........I am very proud of how he has embraced taking care of himself....and I really apperciate all the well wishes.....you all be good to yourselves and I am still planning on my trip in June as long as surgery doesnt happen............

Sounds like Tony is on the road to wellness. Diet, exercise and no smoking are tough for those of us who spent our lives in excess. Bruce is testimony to the fact that it can be done. I will keep Tony in my thoughts and prayers.

Glad to hear it. Ya'll keep me in your prayers as I continue to heal from my accident. Missed 7 days of work but Dr. cleared me to return to work tommorrow. My best to you and Tony!!
