On edit: move to this thread.
We need to QUICKLY make a choice of location and hotel; we're competing with the Autumn Leaves Festival during the weekend of October 7th through 10th. No deals available. Holiday Inn Express Mount Airy does have enough rooms available but they come in 4 different "flavors": o standard (4 currently available) @ $104 on the 7th and $125/night for the 8th & 9th o king exec (4 currently available) @ $114 and up on the 7th and $134 and up on the 8th and 9th o suites with pull-out sofa bed at $125 for the 7th and $145 for the 8th and 9th (availability = 5 with queen beds and 7 with king beds) Hampton Inn Mount Airy has 18 rooms available, all with king beds. o $129/night for 6 (currently available) standard rooms o $139/night for 12 (currently available) rooms with refrigerator & microwave Unless someone stops me, I'll be picking one by 4PM EDT today and locking us in; I'm leaning toward the HIE. I'll PM everyone in the two following lists to give you a chance to get a post in here ASAP. Do not hesitate to forward this on to anyone you think will be participating. Room count that I've got (in no particular order): 1. me and my wife (arriving on the 7th) 2. Paulie 3. Sadie43 5. rickbb* 4. C Nile* 5. the babbster* 6. violette* 7. docc30 (and Krystal?) 8. Dr. Bob's Patient? 9. Denisep? and Dave? 10. vito and daughter? (added on edit) * might be sharing a room Others who have asked: o juggle-early o Labswine o White Knight o RadioDanNYC o toyfarm o vtxrob o Surface ET (added on edit) ---------------------- Expanding the search: Other nearby (within 30 miles) hotels are not showing 8 rooms available in online searches -- but the HIE didn't either so I don't know if that's reliable. o Quality Inn Mount Airy shows only 5 rooms available. o Quality Inn Pilot Mountain shows 1 room available. o HIE Hillsville and Elkins both show less than 8 available.

Paulie is going to be there and has no official opinion about the hotel. I'll be happy with the group decision.

I will be there and the HIE sounds fine with me. I am trying to get my wife to come to this thing in the car so she can meet you reprobates. She can visit some friends we have in the area while we ride and spend the evenings with the group. If she decides not to come then I can share a room with someone. I will know for sure what she plans to do as we get closer to the date.

PMs are out. My PC wants to reboot so I'm moving onto the next issue for a while. I'll check back.

I kept thinking there was some thing or another in Mt. Airy then, but my memory failed me yet again.
Any one is fine with me, (esp since I'm late to the party with my vote).

The Holiday Inn is out; I've spent an hour playing phone tag with the person who makes group arrangements. When I finally got to speak with here, she told me there are no rooms available -- which contradicts info from the woman at the front desk but I'm too irritated to argue about it.
The person who schedules groups at the Hampton (Dawn) is gone for the day; I'll call her in the morning. She is the one who told me that there were 18 rooms available as of noon today. As of right now, we've got 5 rooms confirmed (posts above) and 10 folks who haven't seen my PMs yet. I'll spend some time checking out alternate locations tonight just in case Dawn disappoints tomorrow.

Hampton Inn's usually provide hot (free) breakfast... hoping to at least come in and spend night Friday (I may can't get off work) and do the weekend..
