Default Bad fuel? - PS I'm brand new

Ok, I got this 1998 Honda Shadow (frame), with a 2003 750 motor in it. I traded my 2008 CRF250R for it. Rode it about 20 minutes day I got it (week ago), day after that I rode it again for about 10 minutes, then wanted to die on me when I gave over 1/4 throttle. I am assuming main jet is clogged after I rode it a couple times I knocked some nastiness loose in the tank. I really only know enough about carbs to be dangerous. P.S. I am a tight wad.

Cool bike! Not much to go on, tho.
Looking at the care that went into it, you wouldn't think that the tank was rusted / full of cruddy gas. And if a jet was partially clogged, my money would be on the idle/midrange circuit. You can test the crud theory by draining the float bowls. I never had a 750, but I'll bet all Honda carbs have a drain screw in the float bowl.

Does that bike have a petcock? You didn't forget to open it, did you?

Let's hear from those 750 owners out there.

Great looking bike. See if the filter screen is plugging up, should be on top of the petcock. Run some Chem Tool B-12 or Seafoam thru the carbs, if the jets are gumming up should help clear them up. You didn't say how long the gas has been in the tank, did you try draining the tank, and starting with fresh fuel. I would do that then do the B-12 or Seafoam. Try simple things first.

Thanks guys! I'm pretty excited about it. Hardtail so I'm glad I don't have back problems....yet.
Ok so a little more info, starts and idles greeeat. Not sure how long it sat, previous owner bought a Harley last fall. Gas was low, and I filled new all the way up, also already dumped half can of sea foam in it, haven't started it up since. Since it dies over 1/4 throttle, should I just let it idle for awhile until it gets the seafoam through the carb? Can't ride it due to this issue. Will check the petcock, and fuel bowls. I reeeally appreciate your alls time and input!
