On a bike that has been sitting unwinterized for a year and a half could you do this?
"I had great luck adding an entire can of seafoam to an empty tank, starting the bike until the seafoam reaches the carbs (you'll smell it) and then letting it sit overnight (about 16 hours). Next day add 2 gallons of gas and get 'er started. Run it for a while and then fill it up to the top with gas and let it sit another night. Worked great for me on my 1100 that was idle for quite a number of years after being parked unwinterized." I read this from an old post here. I just wondered if straight sea foam would hurt anything while sitting overnight. Thanks!

Just an update I drained the tank of all the old gas and made sure to drain the gas from the fuel filter as well. The fuel filter is pretty new so it should be ok. I took the tank off and removed the air filter cover. It's here that I'm lost. I can see both carbs but I'm not sure where to start. Does anyone have an online manual for this model honda? I searched but could not find one. I'd still like to know if pouring an entire bottle of seafoam in the empty tank then starting it to make sure it gets in the carbs will work? Then the post said to let that sit overnight then fill with a gallon of gas and start it up. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

If you looked in the "sticky" section at the top of the General Discussion thread, you will see that you can download a factory Honda service manual:
http://www.hondashadow.net/forum/53-...t-vt750dc.html Don't know that I would personally try that method, but what the heck do I know? I would pull the carbs and give them a good cleaning if they need it. |
