I just got a 2007 1100 Sabre and I want to replace the factory seat with a custom or maybe off-the-shelf seat that doesn't have the passenger seat as part of it. I really don't want the passenger seat at all. I want just a place for me.
Anyone seen anything like this or done anything like this? I am also looking for accessories of all kinds so if you know a good web site (no spam please) I would be very interested. |

I normally would pimp Mustang Seats to you, but you have made it clear that you want a solo seat only. Also, may I recommend that you use the search function and view other posts to see the websites already recommended for aftermarket accessories? And, this forum has a strict "no-spam" policy, so you have no worries there. Also, we consider it proper etiquette here to introduce yourself with a little background info and a pic of your new bike. We like bike pics. Welcome! |

Hey All™,
I used a seat off a 750 Ace I think. With the Sabre fender, you'll have to take it off, and drill another hole for the seat bolt to hold down the back of the seat. While you have it off, you might as well go ahead and re-route your wires to where they run under your fender. You don't want the wires on top of the fender if you're going with a solo seat. After you've done these two things, you'll then need a fender bib. As to which one to buy, I can't tell you that, cause I had a local shop custom make me one in the design I wanted. If you still want to go with a solo seat, and have more questions, please feel free to PM me about all the details cause I left them all out.

I ended up going to Ed's Moto in Albany Oregon and having him alter the seat pan. He cut it down to a solo seat and reshaped the plastic. I go back in a few days for a custom foam fitting. After seeing what a great job he could do in simply modifying the stock seat, I decided to let him do more customizations to the seat to give a better ride and fit.

Here is a place you can look at accessories
Motorcycle Parts and Motorcycle Accessories for Cruisers: Honda VTX, Yamaha Roadstar, Kawasaki Mean Streak, Suzuki Volusia and more ... Going with a solo seat you might want to get a Fender Bib to cover up the hole and wires that are under the rear portion of your seat.

Here is the photo collection. The seat has been cut down and the pan re-shaped but the padding is still factory. I go in to get the padding custom fit to me in a couple weeks. I also cut down the rear fender and relocated the turn signals. I intend on replacing the break lights and signals completely. I just can't do it all at one shot. It is a project I that will take a while to complete. I'll keep updating pictures after each change.
